Zach Galifianakis's Funniest Moments
The star of Due Date has been keeping comedy weird since long before 2009's The Hangover. From heckling hecklers to his musical comedy, WATCH VIDEO of seven of his classic moments.
One-Man Wolf Pack
Mike Tyson, a tiger, and a baby walk into a bar… it must be The Hangover, a story of romance and regret—but mainly regret—that ensues when a group of friends throw a last hurrah in Las Vegas for a friend who's about to get married. As loner Alan Garner, Galifianakis delivered an inspiring and equally nonsensical speech about adding wolves to his pack of would-be friends, before slicing his hand in a plea to become “blood brothers.” The real action starts when Garner hijacks the night by roofie-ing his buddies, something we wouldn’t put past the weed-smoking Galifianakis in real life.
Conan Gets Crickets on Between Two Ferns
On his Funny or Die talk show, Galifianakis has caressed Michael Cera’s thigh, made fun of Charlize Theron’s sick dog, and nearly been punched by Ben Stiller. Here, he gives Conan O’Brien the shaft by playing the sound of a “cricket riding a tumbleweed” in response to a joke.
The Beethoven of Our Time
Comedy Central Presents a comedian with questionable relatives: A staple of Galifianakis’ act since long before he got "hung over" has been telling jokes to the tune of a piano. In his 2001 Comedy Central Presents special, he gave us a taste of his future greatness when he joked about coping with his sisters’ multiple personalities and, more importantly, his make-out habits. The takeaway: Don’t even think about interrupting Galifianakis when he’s watching a Keanu Reeves movie.
All He Wants to Do Is Star in Art House Films
The man who calls his balls “the Bush twins” is naturally a go-to expert on all sorts of topics. In another Funny or Die video, Galifianakis waxed poetic on his dream to be in the “most independent movie ever made,” while pretending to hate physical comedy because, after all, he’s a “sucker for the spoken word.” In fact, no words can prepare you to watch him jump up and down without any pants on.
The Man Who Photo Bombed NBC
Galifianakis belongs on NBC sets like a glass of white wine belongs in Kathy Lee Gifford’s hand before noon. In an SNL sketch from earlier this year, the funnyman dropped by Nightly News with Brian Williams and helped Dr. Oz demonstrate health tips, before paying Hoda Kotb and Gifford a visit—as a creeper in the background, that is—in a later sketch. Oh yes, he did.
Galifianakis Thinks Out Loud on Late World
Before making celebrities uncomfortable on Between Two Ferns and fronting as his twin brother Seth in interviews, Galifianakis hosted Late World on VH1, where the audience was literally privy to his thoughts, which were played out loud. The show was canceled after a short run, but in this interview with future co-star Bradley Cooper, Galifianakis doesn’t seem to care one bit.
This Is Galifianakis Getting Pissed at a Drunk Lady
“It’s not your fault, it’s your parents' fault”: Galifianakis might push people's buttons in his acts and movies, but won’t take the heat in the middle of his own show. During a stand-up routine, a drunk woman heckled Galifianakis before doing the unthinkable—playing his piano. Naturally he confronted the situation head on, pulling her up on stage and sending her off with security.
