Young California Sisters Lost in Woods for 44 Hours Relied on 4-H Training
Two sisters, ages 5 and 8, who survived in the woods of northern California for 44 hours over the weekend said they relied on their 4-H training. Caroline and Leia Carrico followed a deer trail outside their home in Bebow on Friday but wandered too far and got lost. “We just wanted a little more adventure,” 5-year-old Caroline said. Borrowing lessons from their 4-H wilderness class, they drank water from huckleberry leaves and found warmth under bushes at night, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The girls were found Sunday by a massive search party that followed their food wrappers and boot prints.
