A 101-year-old Utah woman is set to enter the record books Tuesday—her birthday—for being the “Oldest Female to Paraglide Tandem.” Mary Hardison, of Ogden, has officially offset a 100-year-old woman from Cyprus for the Guinness Book of World Records title. Hardison flew with an instructor on Sept. 1, 2011, with four generations of her family watching. In a questionnaire with Guinness, Hardison said she took up paragliding after her 75-year-old son began doing it as a hobby. “My desire is for the elderly to keep going,” Hardison said. “Be positive. Friends don’t like a grumpy person.” Hardison celebrated her 90th birthday by riding all of the adult rides at Disney World.
