Will Gmail’s Crash Hurt Google?

Gmail’s two-hour global crash at 4:30 a.m. Eastern time was not noticed by most Americans (at least not by those who don’t aggregate the Cheat Sheet in the morning), but the fallout could be huge for Google. The Financial Times reports that “the crash is a blow to Google’s ambitions for business e-mail and applications that it delivers over the internet.” The crash was the worst to date for Gmail, which has over 100 million users worldwide.
