Whitney Open Late for Michael Asher Exhibit

Michael Asher’s Whitney Museum of American Art exhibition was on display around the clock for insomniacs beginning Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. through Friday. Museum officials were unsure how the turnout would be in the early morning hours, but people continued to stream in to experience Asher’s Bucksbaum Award-winning conceptual-art exhibit. Some visitors found the late-night installation convenient, while others found it an opportunity to indulge in a “more personal” gallery. Because many of the galleries were filled only with the sparse museum security guards, some argued the exhibition allowed for a more intimate relation between art and observer.
