White House Staffers Want Shakeup

Everyone expected the White House to shake things up after Tuesday's Republican victory, though it appears that some in the White House itself are looking forward to the change: Politico reports that some West Wing staffers want a shakeup. Obama's inner circle of advisers like David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett are safe, but political director Patrick Gaspard and Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina's heads are likely to roll. Part of the problem, according to the White House's internal critics, is too many chiefs and not enough soldiers—there are lots of "ideas" people but not enough middle managers to execute them. Politico says Chief of Staff Pete Rouse and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs have made this point directly to Obama.
