White House Says 'No Deal'

"We don't have a deal." That's what a top White House official said about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's claim that a bill to raise the debt ceiling is "very close." Senior White House adviser David Plouffe told NBC's Meet the Press that President Obama and the GOP are in general agreement on a package that would cut the deficit in two stages, but key details are still being worked out. Plouffe suggested that negotiations are still focused on how to get Congress to approve a deficit-cutting plan of tax and entitlement reform later this year.
