Maxine Waters: Trump ‘Lied Again,’ I Didn’t ‘Call for Harm’

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) responded to President Trump’s claim that she had called for “harm to [his] supporters” Monday night, saying the president “lied again.” “I did not call for harm for anybody,” she told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, saying she was encouraging civil protest at a rally Saturday where she said, “If you see anybody from [Trump’s] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” After some fellow Democrats—including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Chuck Schumer (D-NY)—criticized her remarks, Trump tweeted Monday that Waters should “be careful what you wish for Max!”
