Washington's Farewell To Become a Book

No matter what happens in American politics, you can almost always count on two things: peaceful transfer of power and working out differences without resorting to violence. The United States led the world in those respects, and George Washington set the tone by stepping down after two terms as the nation's first president. The story of Washington's farewell address—actually a letter and not a speech—will be told in a forthcoming book by Newsweek and The Daily Beast senior columnist John Avlon. Washington's Farewell is scheduled to be published in the fall of 2015 by Simon & Schuster.
