War Vets Struggle to Find Work

Soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are coming home to a bleak employment market, finding the skills they developed serving the U.S. military sometimes poor preparation for civilian life. The unemployment rate for recent veterans was 10 percent in November, compared to 9.1 percent for non-veterans. The rate has been higher for combat veterans since at least 2005, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. "I continue to be very worried about the unemployment rate among our vets," Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told The Washington Post.
