WaPo Writer Suspended for False Tweet

Here's your moron of the week: The Washington Post has suspended sportswriter Mike Wise for one month after he falsely tweeted that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger would be suspended for five games (he was suspended for six) and then claim that the tweet was a hoax to prove “anybody will print anything.” When Wise’s original tweet, which other media outlets picked up, proved to be false, he claimed that people should have known it wasn’t true, since he never breaks news on Twitter, and then said that he tried immediately to make clear it was a joke, but that Twitter was not working.
