Were viewers hoping to catch another Kanye meltdown, or was host Chelsea Handler just that big of a draw? Last Night's MTV Video Music Awards pulled in 11.4 million viewers, the network’s largest telecast of any program since 2002 and the fifth-largest in its history. According to the network, ratings for the awards show have grown consistently over the last four years, up 27 percent from 2009. “Every year, MTV celebrates the music and creative genius of artists we have the privilege of working with all year long," said Van Toffler, president of the MTV Networks Music & Logo Group, in a press release. "Last night's luminescent VMA setting provided the perfect backdrop to do just that and we're thrilled the audience resoundingly agreed."
