The Emperor's Last Laugh

Valentino thinks the girls at the Met were not-so-pretty young things.

Following the success of his hit documentary, Valentino: The Last Emperor, the fashion icon is releasing a “lavish” coffee table book, which features a series of fashion photographs from his long career. Now that he’s retired, he splits his time between his London home, his Château in Paris, his New York apartment, his yacht, and his palazzo in Rome. But that hasn’t stopped him from weighing in on how everyone looks. “I think now all the girls look very ugly,” he said of the girls at the Costume Institute Gala this month. “I saw the pictures of the Metropolitan gala evening last week and I never saw something more ugly, all the girls have their legs out with the most terrible proportions.”
