Ralph Northam, the Democratic candidate running in Virginia's gubernatorial race, got a boost from an unlikely source on Thursday evening. After President Trump tweeted that Northam “is fighting for the violent MS-13 killer gangs & sanctuary cities,” the candidate began fundraising off it. And as of 3 p.m. ET on Friday afternoon, Northam had raised $69,364 from more than 1,700 individual contributions, according to his campaign. The campaign is now on pace to raise more than $110,000 in 24 hours for a race that Democrats had feared wasn’t getting enough national attention.
