USC Coach Fired After Drinking Incident

USC football coach Steve Sarkisian was fired Monday after an incident where he appeared drunk during a Saturday night speech. "After careful consideration of what is in the best interest of the university and our student-athletes, I have made the decision to terminate Steve Sarkisian, effective immediately," athletic director Pat Haden wrote in a statement. Sarkisian had to be pulled off-stage while making a preseason speech. When he was previously asked to take a leave of absence, Haden said he ultimately worried about the coach's health.
