U.S. to Appeal Blackwater Case

With the president of Iraq by his side, Vice President Joe Biden said the U.S. government will appeal the dismissal of charges against five Blackwater guards accused of killing 14 Iraqi civilians in 2007. Last month, a federal court found that the guards’ constitutional rights were violated, and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has hired American lawyers to sue the private contractor, which has renamed itself Xe Services. “The United States is determined, determined to hold accountable anyone who commits crimes against the Iraqi people," Biden said.
