U.S. Sends Warships to Korean Peninsula

The U.S. has sent warships to the Korean peninsula in a show of force against North Korea, which is continuing to develop its nuclear program. “The number one threat in the region continues to be North Korea, due to its reckless, irresponsible and destabilizing program of missile tests and pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability,” said U.S. Pacific Command spokesman Dave Benham. President Donald Trump has said the U.S. is prepared to act unilaterally in order to counter the growing threat. The deployment, announced late Saturday night, includes an aircraft carrier, destroyers and a cruiser.
