U.S.-Bound Flight Security Tightened

The Department of Homeland Security is increasing security for certain flights heading to the U.S. It has directed the Transportation Security Administration to “implement enhanced security measures in the coming days" at specific foreign airports, according to a statement from Secretary Jeh Johnson. The stepped-up security measures do not reflect the rise of Al Qaeda-offshoot ISIS in Iraq and Syria, DHS says, but rather are a response to growing concerns that terrorists may be developing more sophisticated explosives.
