Univision Drops Miss USA Over Trump

Spanish-language broadcaster Univision won’t air the upcoming Miss USA pageant because of comments made by Miss Universe Organization part-owner Donald Trump. In a speech announcing his bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, Trump called for “a great, great wall on our southern border” and described migrants as as drug-runners and rapists. “At Univision, we see firsthand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values, and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country,” according to a company statement. “We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12th or working on any other projects tied to the Trump organization.”
