U.K. Wants to Ban Airbrushed Photos

The magazine world better brace itself: Liberal Democrats in the U.K. have begun promoting a new policy for women’s issues, specifically looking to ban airbrushing from fashion magazines. The policy calls for a ban on all altered or enhanced ads directed toward the 16-and-under age group, a move the party feels will encourage “the freedom of young people to develop their self-esteem and to be as comfortable as possible with their bodies, without constantly feeling the need to measure up to a very narrow range of digitally manipulated shapes and sizes." As part of the policy, the party also calls for schools to offer classes that are more attractive to females, such as yoga and dance, as well as for cosmetic-surgery ads to carry success rates.
