Two Dead, Including Cop, in La. Standoff

A Sunset, Louisiana, police officer was shot to death and three women were stabbed, one of them fatally, at a convenience store Wednesday evening. Police took Harrison Lee Wiley Jr. into custody after authorities used tear gas and rammed through an inner office of the market, where the alleged gunman had barricaded himself, said St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz. Officer Henry Wilson, 51, was gunned down while responding to a domestic-disturbance call where three women were found with stab wounds. Two of the women were sisters of the mayor of nearby Grand Coteau, including 40-year-old Shameka Johnson, who was pronounced dead. A third woman, Courtney Jolivette, was Wiley’s wife and was in surgery as of Wednesday night. Guidroz added drugs were suspected in the incident.
