Two Dead After Amazon Building Suffers Partial Collapse in Baltimore

Two people have been confirmed dead after an Amazon fulfillment center in Baltimore partially collapsed during a storm late Friday. Baltimore firefighters recovered the second victim’s body early Saturday morning, hours after the first victim was found underneath the debris. Chief Roman Clark said a 50-foot wall had collapsed in the building during a severe storm in the area, and firefighters are still checking the scene for signs of any other people injured. Authorities have not yet determined what caused the collapse, but a spokesman for Amazon cited “severe weather” for the deaths in a statement. Meteorologists are also working to determine if a tornado touched down in the area, according to the Baltimore Sun. Brandon McBride, an employee who was working inside the Amazon facility at the time of the collapse, told CNN it “sounded like bombs were dropping everywhere.” “The whole side (of the building) was just dropping,” he said, calling the experience “unreal.”
