About 300,000 customers later, Twitter is jumping on the iPad bandwagon, too. Twitter has acquired Atebits, developer of the popular iPhone app Tweetie, CEO Evan Williams announced late Friday. The iPhone version of Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and it will now be free—it previously cost $2.99. Twitter said that a version for the iPad is on the way. Because Twitter has now chosen an official app, other third-party apps will likely fall by the wayside.
