Dozens Injured by Severe Turbulence on NYC-Bound Jet
Thirty passengers and crew members suffered injuries—including a broken leg—when a flight from Istanbul to New York hit severe turbulence on Saturday, the Associated Press reported. An emergency was declared aboard Turkish Airlines Flight 1 while the Boeing 747 was still in the air, about 45 minutes away from JFK International Airport, officials said. Ambulances were lined up to assist people who had been tossed around the cabin. More than two dozen were taken to nearby hospitals with cuts and bruises, along with a flight attendant with the broken leg.
