A record number of firearms were found in carry-on luggage at U.S. airport-security checkpoints in a single week in September, the Transportation Security Administration said Sunday. Security agents found 67 firearms during the week leading up to Sept. 17, of which 56 were loaded and 26 had a round in the chamber. The number of firearms topped a previous record of 65 firearms found during a week in May 2013, TSA officials said. For the week ended Sept. 24, TSA agents found 64 firearms in carry-on bags. Of those weapons, 55 were loaded and 22 had a round in the chamber. Security officials have found more than 2,000 firearms in airport-security checks so far this year.
