Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Destroyed by Sledgehammer

Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was pulverized by a someone dressed as a construction worker, armed with a pick-ax and a sledgehammer, early Wednesday morning.

In an interview with Deadline, the man said his name is “Jamie Otis,” and claimed he originally wanted to remove Trump’s star to auction it off to raise money for women who have recently accused Trump of sexual assault. The assailant was unsuccessful, and instead ended up simply smashing Trump’s plaque to pieces. (Deadline also obtained video of the vandalism, and the LAPD is investigating.)

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but this isn’t the first time Trump’s Walk of Fame star has faced acts of vandalism and protest during this presidential election. In July, an artist erected a tiny wall around the star. Earlier this year, there were many reports of the plaque being vandalized and defaced with a swastika, urine, and even feces.

In April, Ana Martinez, a spokeswoman for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, would not confirm whether or not urine or feces were used to attack Trump’s star. “No one saw anything of that sort. We had our star makers clean off graffiti and a sticker. That is all,” Martinez told The Daily Beast in April.
