Trump Won Wealthy, Educated Voters

Exit polls following Donald Trump’s huge sweep of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, and Rhode Island this week show that he was able to attract a large group of wealthy and well-educated voters. Though Trump had trouble attracting those demographics in previous polls, he won some of the wealthiest and best-educated areas in the country on Tuesday, including Newport County, Rhode Island and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The real estate magnate secured the votes of more than half of Republican voters who earn more than $100,000 a year and about the same percentage of GOP voters with undergraduate degrees. “I think people may have gotten used to Trump, he’s not as outrageous as he used to be,” said Randall Miller, who studies American politics. Trump still doesn’t perform well in national polls with the same demographics, Reuters reports.
