President Trump bragged to fundraisers about a classified mission in which U.S. forces killed hundreds of Russian mercenaries in Syria, Politico reports. Speaking to donors in Manhattan last Wednesday, Trump is said to have praised the performance of the U.S. Air Force in airstrikes he claimed killed between 100 to 300 Russians. White House deputy press secretary Raj Shah declined to comment on Trump’s remarks to Politico because information about the Syria strikes remains classified. The fundraiser at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel was attended by around 100 supporters who paid a minimum of $50,000 a head. The president also praised himself for moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, saying that it took a leader of strength and conviction to carry out the highly controversial move. The Russian government has been tight-lipped about the February attack, saying only that dozens may have been killed.
