The Trump administration will stop posting official summaries, or “readouts,” of telephone calls the president has with foreign leaders, CNN reports. It is unclear whether the change will be temporary or permanent, but the move is a departure from past administrations on both sides of the aisle. The readouts typically described what the president talked about on the call with the foreign leader and provided an official account of the call taking place. The White House has not issued a readout since mid-June, Trump’s recent calls with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were first announced through their respective governments. While the White House did confirm the two calls to those who asked, it did not elaborate on what was discussed.
