Tourists Find 2,300 Year Old Treasure

Roughly two weeks ago, three members of the Israel Caving Club accidentally discovered a treasure hoard of 2,300 coins and silver objects in northern Israel. The three men, Reuven Zachai, his son Chen, and friend Lior Hiloni reported the find to the Israel Antiquities Authority. According to the IAA, included in the hoard are coins from the reign of Alexander the Great, and the find is “one of the most important discoveries in the north in the last years.” It did not, however, disclose the cave’s location on fear of looting.
