Toronto Raptors Coach Dwane Casey Fired

The Toronto Raptors fired head coach Dwane Casey on Friday, according to ESPN. Casey, who has one year left on his contract, worth $6 million, was reportedly informed of the decision Friday morning, the outlet reported. He was the “most successful coach in franchise history,” leading the team to “59 regular season victories” and beating the Washington Wizards in this year’s Eastern Conference semifinals, according to ESPN. The Raptors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers last week in the second round of the Conference playoffs. “After careful consideration, I have decided this is a very difficult but necessary step the franchise must take As a team, we are constantly trying to grow and improve in order to get to the next level,” wrote Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri in a statement. “We celebrate everything Dwane has done for this organization, we thank him, we wish him nothing but the  best in the future.”
