Tom Hanks: I Have Type 2 Diabetes

There’s a reason Tom Hanks has lost so much weight recently: he has Type 2 diabetes, he told David Letterman on Monday night. Hanks, 57, said he has struggled with high blood pressure since he was 36, and diabetes is “controllable.” “Something’s going to kill us all, Dave,” Hanks said. Also, his doctor told him he should aim for his "high school weight" to attain complete health. “And I said to her, ‘Well I’m going to have Type 2 diabetes then,’” Hanks said. “There was no way I was gonna weight what I weighed high school … I was 96 pounds.”
