Three Girls Win Google Science Fair

Who says women are less logical? All three of the top winners in the first-ever Google Science Fair were female. The top 15 finalists were judged on the merits of their scientific experiments. Lauren Hodge, in the 13-14 age group, won for studying carcinogens in grilled chicken; Naomi Shah, in the 15-16 group, was chosen for her efforts to improve indoor air quality for asthma patients; and Shree Bose, in the 17-18 category, won the grand prize for her contributions to ovarian-cancer treatment. Bose received a $50,000 scholarship and Hodge and Shah were each awarded $25,000.
