Thousands of Arabs Protest

Thousands of Arab citizens of both Israel and Palestine protested Saturday in the West Bank and East Jerusalem against a plan by the Israeli government to relocate Bedouins from the Negev desert to urban communities. Twenty-eight protesters were arrested and at least 15 police officers were injured, including one who was stabbed. Known as the Prawer Plan, Israeli officials insist the agreement was reached after consultation with Bedouin leaders, but many Bedouins disagree, saying they will lose up to 200,000 acres of land and more than 400,000 people will be forcibly relocated. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the police response.
