The Next Season of ‘Criminal Minds’ Will Be Its Last

CBS’ Criminal Minds is making its upcoming 10-episode 15th season its last, Deadline reports. The series, which has produced 325 episodes, is one of TV’s longest-running series—on par with NBC’s ER and CBS’ CSI. The show is currently filming the finale of its 15-episode 14th season, and will continue filming the 15th season immediately after. “It is the quintessential CBS hit. We are so proud to have aired it,” Amy Reisenbach, CBS’ EVP current programs, told the website. “It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television. It’s been successful not only on air but online, in syndication, internationally for ABC (Studios).” The decision to pick up the final 15th season reportedly came after executive producer and showrunner Erica Messer questioned whether the 14th season closer should be a cliffhanger or a series finale. CBS, ABC Studios, and CBS TV Studios then reportedly got together and collectively decided to give fans a “proper ending.”
