The Kindle 2 Cometh

Is this the future of reading? revealed its new digital-book reader, the Kindle 2, at a press conference this morning. Kindle 2’s improvements over its predecessor include: a new design, with the device being a third-of-an-inch thick and weighing just 10 ounces; a crisper new display; two gigabits of memory that can hold 1,500 books; a longer battery life that last four to five days with wireless turned on and two weeks with wireless turned off; and instant dictionary lookup. Stephen King also will be releasing a novella, “Ur,” which will be available only on the Kindle.
