The Homeless Fight L.A. Serial Killer

Authorities are urging the homeless to band together to help protect themselves against a serial killer who has been suspected of preying on transients in the Los Angeles area. “If that serial killer wants to come at us, he’ll have his hands full,” said Carl Singletary, who has been homeless for six months and said he has been keeping guard for his friends. Police, social workers and charities have been urging the needy to seek help in shelters—a situation even more difficult considering mental illness and drug problems—while many who live on the streets have also begun to make themselves look less conspicuous. Each of the three victims were believed to be alone when they were killed.
