Texas Judge Found Dead in Chambers

Texas judge Tom Greenwell was found dead Monday in his chambers in Corpus Christi, the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. It’s unclear how anyone could bring a gun into the courthouse, since the security checkpoint includes a metal detector; however, attorneys, judges, and some people in the media do not always need to go through security to enter the building. Nueces County Sheriff Jim Kaelin could not answer any questions about whether foul play is suspected, if a note was found, or even if the weapon used has been retrieved. Greenwell was scheduled to be on vacation this week as he geared up for a major murder trial.
