Tesla Discontinuing Its Least-Expensive Model

Tesla is planning to discontinue its least expensive versions of the Model S next month. Electrek reported on Friday that the American automaker warned potential buyers of its discontinuation, which will take effect on April 16, 2017. Both the Model S 60 and 60D, which were the least-expensive models available from Tesla—starting at $68,000—will be affected by the change. The reason for this move, the company said, is to streamline their offerings because customers have been opting for higher-powered batteries available in other models, but only available in the Model S 60 or 6D for a fee.
