Teen Feminists Face Hate Campaign

Proving that that the fight for women's rights is far from won, teenage students at an all-girls school in England started a feminist society and found themselves on the receiving end of a sexist hate campaign. Boys in their social circle and beyond attacked the budding feminists on social media sites, with aggressive and sexually explicit posts and comments on pictures of the girls holding signs that completed the statement, “I need feminism because..." And their school’s response? It told the girls to remove the photos, leading one to pen a scathing missive in the Guardian where she writes, “If you thought the fight for female equality was over, I'm sorry to tell you that a whole new round is only just beginning.” Go, girls.
