Delaware Primaries

Tea Partier O'Donnell Wins Senate Nom.

This could make things a very interesting come November: Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell has won the GOP nomination for Senate in Delaware, beating out the establishment candidate Mike Castle. In neighboring Maryland, Sarah Palin's endorsement did not give the victory to Republican Brian Murphy, who lost to Robert Ehrlich in the gubernatorial primary. Meanwhile, in New Hampshire’s race, Ovide Lamontagne came out early with a 15 point lead over Attorney General Kelly Ayotte with 20 percent of districts reporting. The Tea Party victories could be a problem for the right; the New York Times statistician Nate Silver has predicted that if races such as Delaware and New Hampshire front Tea Party candidates in the general election, the Republican chances of taking over the Senate are cut in half.
