Syrian Troops Allegedly Kill 78

A few hours before the U.N. Security Council was scheduled to meet to talk about the ongoing crisis in Syria, troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad were accused of killing 86 people in Mazraat al-Qabeer. Accounts of the Wednesday massacre included the possibility that several women and children were among the dead. The U.N., with 300 monitors in the country, will investigate the claims. The news came on the same day as the U.N. declared that some 1 million people inside of Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance. This figure does not include the 78,000 already living in refugee camps
