Syracuse Coach Boeheim Lays Low

Should Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim go the way of Joe Paterno? He’s been keeping a low profile since the university fired his longtime assistant Bernie Fine Sunday after he was accused of sexually abusing three boys. When allegations against Fine became public Nov. 17, Boeheim attacked the accusers, saying they were probably seeking money. He later said he regretted his statement for being “insensitive to victims of abuse.” Victims’ groups are now calling for Boeheim’s firing; Boeheim, meanwhile, ran a closed practice Monday.
