The man suspected of being behind the truck attack in Stockholm last week sought asylum in Sweden but was rejected by the authorities. He was being tracked down for deportation at the time of the attack. The 39-year-old native of Uzbekistan was rejected last year, and officials could not locate him because he was not present at the address listed on his application. A top police official added that the suspect, who is in police custody, was “sympathetic to extremist organizations.” The four victims of the attack included two Swedes, one Briton and a Belgian. A second suspect was detained on Sunday.
