Suspected Prison Gang Leader Caught

The man suspected of being the crew chief of the Mexican mafia in California prisons was captured in Missouri, authorities said Tuesday. In June, Albert “Spanky” Amaya had appealed his “three strikes” conviction of 25 years to life—and once released on probation, promptly cut off his ankle monitor and fled. Investigators tracked him down in Sedalia, a small town in Missouri. He faces the possibility of being extradited back to California, where he still faces that 25-years-to-life sentence.
