Suspect in Va. Shooting Charged

Christopher Bryan Speight, who is suspected of having killed eight people in Virginia, has been charged with murder after turning himself in Wednesday morning. According to Lt. J.D. Baker of the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center, Speight is being held in that facility on a single charge of first-degree murder. Seven bodies were found at Speight’s house in Appamattox and an eighth person died from wounds at the hospital. A bomb squad also uncovered explosives at his home, and crews are working on detonating the devices.
