Sudan Rebels Hold 29 Chinese Workers

Sudanese rebels in the country’s South Kordofan state said Sunday they have captured 29 Chinese workers after a battle with government forces, though they claim they did not kidnap them and they are not hostages. “We are holding them for their own safety because the Army was trying to strike again," a spokesman for the SPLM-N rebels said. South Kordofan borders the newly independent South Sudan, and the Sudanese Army has been fighting the rebels since June.
