To the dismay of Portugal fans everywhere, star-player Cristiano Ronaldo did not lead his team to victory Tuesday in its faceoff against Spain. Sixty-two minutes of play passed before Spain's David Villa sank the match's only goal (his fourth of the tournament), sealing his team's win. Spain will move on to play Paraguay in the quarterfinals. Earlier in the day, Paraguay beat Japan on penalty kicks in a nail-biting match. Paraguay outscored Japan 5-3 on the kicks after a 0-0 draw in regular play. The only miss was by Japanese defender Yuichi Komano, who hit the crossbar. The quarterfinals are now set, with the Netherlands up against Brazil, Uruguay to face Ghana, and Argentina versus Germany.
