Sources: Reid Offers McConnell a Deal

With all eyes on the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid has apparently offered Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a deal—privately. The proposed deal will extend the debt ceiling through next year and keep the government open through mid-December (wait, does this mean we will all have to live through this again in two months?!), sources told Politico on Monday. The proposed deal would also set up larger budget negotiations with the House over the automatic spending cuts in the sequester. (Seriously, who knew Democrats still cared about that one?) And apparently Senate Democrats are open to some wiggle room on some distinct parts of Obamacare. But don't get your hopes up too fast: Sen. John McCain said after the meeting that a deal is unlikely Monday.
