Somali Hostage Dies in Captivity

Marie Dedieu, the handicapped French woman who was kidnapped by Somali militants from her home on a Kenyan resort island, has died in captivity, according to Al Jazeera. French authorities have confirmed her death but are unsure of its circumstances or timing. Dedieu was taken from her home near the island of Lamu on Oct. 1 in what appears to have been a planned and targeted assault. She usually got around in a wheelchair, but her captors pulled her from it when they kidnapped her.
